ChartEase
The carts have remained in the same form nearly for half century and they are now way away from the positive effect that they used to have when they were first released to the market. Would it be possible to rethink and redesign these user and site specific vehicles in light of the necessities of time?
ChartEase is a utility cart for porters, especially at the historical peninsula of Ä°stanbul. As a result of the interviews and the videos taken at the site together with the outcome of the online researches, three topics were the main focus points in the production of ChartEase: loading/unloading, ease of transport and pulling/pushing.
ChartEase came out as an alternative proposal for these topics. In the prototypes produced in accordance with this context, extendable carriage table, handle bar variations and different wheel configurations were applied. These prototypes were tried at the site; all the process was recorded. The outcome of these trials and the feedbacks from the users were taken into consideration and adopted for the final prototype.
